Work experience can provide a structured opportunity to learn about policing and police staff careers.
Availability
Places are offered only through an approved scheme with appropriate eligibility, supervision and safeguarding arrangements.
What work experience is for
An approved placement can help a young person understand the range of police officer and police staff careers and how different teams contribute to policing.
Safeguarding and access
Placements are planned around safeguarding, supervision, confidentiality and operational restrictions. A participant does not receive unrestricted access to police systems or sensitive work.
Who can apply
The scheme information states the age or school-year group, residence or education criteria and any other eligibility requirements when applications open.
When applications are closed
Careers information remains available, but HIOWC does not accept work-experience applications unless an approved scheme is open.
Current opportunities
Only opportunities shown on Vacancies are open for application. An information page does not mean recruitment is open.
